Henry’s Horsemen is my first fiction novel. It’s a story about a chemistry professor named Silas Godfrey who joins up with a team of other infamous scientists-turned-mercenaries who’re all focused on a quest to make deep space colonization possible for Earth.
This team of anti-heroes was created to face and kill the monsters that prowl deep space. The founder of the Corps, John C. Henry, knew that humans had no idea of how to deal with alien monsters, so he set about creating a team of men who knew exactly what to do and how to deal with such a threat. This all-star cast of scientists features men who have been abandoned by the scientific community, outcasts in a galaxy they must fight to save.
Enter the Horsemen:
John C. Henry: Founder of the Horsemen Corps, John is a retired Colonel from the Earth Core military who is consumed with ensuring that mankind enters a new scientific age. In order to do so, John has created an extraordinary team of scientists, but now must deal with their massive and conflicting egos. Steadfast and headstrong, John never backs down from a challenge and is determined to turn this team of “lab rats” into hardened warriors.
Silas Godfrey: A chemistry professor with a dark past, Godfrey meets John while locked up in a University prison. John offers Godfrey amnesty in exchange for joining the Horsemen Corps, which has a predicted 90% mortality rate. Godfrey had always resented the life he’d lived, but this quest will force him to face his deepest fears and darkest secrets.
Adam Sulture: Known throughout the Core as the “Xenocidalist,” Dr. Adam Sulture is seen as either a ruthless, cold blooded mass murderer, or a staunch, heroic defender against a hostile alien race from the jungle world of Angkor. Sulture is brilliant, calculating, efficient and doesn’t hesitate to get the job done, regardless of the dangers to himself or others.
Murph McGinnis: Murph is the Horsemen’s medic and the key lieutenant for Sulture back on Angkor. Affable, friendly and good natured, Murph is the counter-weight to Sulture’s cold demeanor. Murph is all about helping people and saving lives, even if some of his treatment methods are a little…unorthodox.
Xing Ming Lee: Known as the “Anarchist of Ophridia,” Lee led a planetary revolution against a violent and bloodthirsty dictator. Silent and deadly, Lee believes that humans are as much if not more dangerous than the monsters they will face. A peaceful botanist turned assassin, Lee is methodical, precise and as quiet as a shadow.
Hacker: A computer hacker with questionable loyalties, Hacker was once in charge of a renegade group known as “The Grid,” a group of computer hackers specializing as information dealers against the Earth Core Government. Their primary focus was on stealing government secrets and selling to the highest bidder or releasing them to the public, letting the chips fall where they may. Hacker knows everyone’s secrets on the team, but he’s tight-lipped and rarely willing to talk.
Jackson Warrens: Known as “Africa’s Deadliest Son,” Warrens unwillingly assisted in the destruction of thousands of villages and the murder of thousands of innocent people in a massive three-way civil war that engulfed Africa. While he was held hostage forced to develop deadly weapons, Warrens was under constant threat of having grandmother killed in front of him. Warrens now is on a desperate quest for redemption to atone for his past.
Sujay Malak: Panicky and easily scared, Sujay is the chief navigator for the Horsemen Corps. A brilliant astro-physicist, Sujay is a little lacking in proper social etiquette. He and his partner, Forrest are infamous blockade runners who’re known across the galaxy as some of the best smugglers that money can buy.
Jack Forrest: Happy-go-lucky and ever cheerful, Forrest is a daredevil who thrives on risk. Rarely taking matters seriously, Forrest is always ready with a properly (or improperly) timed “Your Mom” joke or start an argument with Sujay. The pilot of the Horsemen’s flag ship the Enigma, Forrest is one of the most skilled blockade runner pilots in the galaxy, always carrying the firm belief that he was born to fly a spaceship.
David Shepherd: The youngest member of the Horsemen Corps, Shepherd is nothing more than a twenty three year old kid the others found as a stowaway, but makes his mark on the team as an idealist and their moral center, arguing that morality is vitally important, and that the humanity of the Horsemen must be preserved at all costs.
A Shadow War is Erupting. Masters of Death and Destruction become mankind’s only hope. Silas Godfrey, an imprisoned Chemistry Professor has nothing to lose when he’s approached by Colonel John C. Henry to join the Horsemen Initiative. Henry’s mission is to turn a group of scientists into soldiers and combat the monsters of Deep Space Exploration. When investigating the slaughter of Earth’s military elite, the Horsemen are thrown into the front lines of a shadow war decades in the making. They’re forced to confront a mysterious enemy whose goal is to achieve the “God-State” at all costs. The Horsemen must go to the ends of the galaxy to piece together and stop the grand experiment, lest they unleash armageddon upon mankind.
